Born on January 10, 1944 in Narbonne, Jean-Claude  spent his childhood in Aix-en-Provence surrounded by his mother, a housewife, and his father, an aviation officer. At the age of 18, he moved to Paris to study child psychomotor skills at the Pitié-Salpêtrière hospital. He follows the courses of major psychoanalyst amongst them Françoise Dolto and Jacques Lacan.

In 1968 he graduated and transferred to Nice. To help the children in his care and restore their confidence, he creates “therapeutic” disguises in crepe paper.

In 1975, he became director of the Higher Institute for Psychomotor Rehabilitation in Nice and was involved in the training of nearly 400 students.

In 2002, Jean Claude Jitrois received the Legion of Honor for his contribution to the Fashion sector and the promotion of France throughout the world.

FROM PSYCHOLOGY TO FASHION

The abrupt move to fashion happened after Jean-Claude began exploring Jacob Moreno’s theory of therapeutic psychodrama. This theory was applied when treating children with learning difficulties, dressing them in hand-made costumes to help them feel more comfortable in their own skin

Jean-Claude loves Mozart, Liszt, Chopin and opera. He is “haunted” by Marguerite Yourcenar, who said that “A touch of madness is, I think, almost always necessary for constructing a destiny.” used to live in his showroom in the fifties and sixties.

He has a taste for the old, a envy for the contemporary, mixes and disentangles them according to his desires. He encounters artists that inspired him on his creation. From JonOne, Damien Hirst, to Rankin and many others…
