Women's Skirt

The Jitrois women's skirt is a handcrafted leather piece made in Paris from stretch lambskin, supple suede, or leather denim. Our styles span pencil, straight, trapeze, flared, and pleated cuts in short, midi, and mid-length, from deep black to camel. A skirt that reveals the silhouette from day to evening, effortlessly.

  • Materials: stretch lambskin, supple suede, leather denim.
  • Cuts: pencil, straight, trapeze, flared, pleated, wrap, high-waisted.
  • Lengths: short, midi, and mid-length, depending on the occasion.
  • Colors: from deep black to camel, from patent to matte.

The Jitrois Women's Skirt — A Signature of Material

A skirt is defined by its line. What sets a Jitrois skirt apart is the skin it is made from. Stretch-worked plonged lamb, softened suede, leather-blended denim — each material is chosen for its drape and the way it hugs the body like a second skin. The hand stays soft, movement remains free, and the look holds all day. Where a classic skirt settles for a rigid fabric, ours follows the body like a knit, without losing any of its character. It is this tension between suppleness and structure that distinguishes a couture skirt from a seasonal garment.

The Origins of Stretch Leather — The Jitrois Invention

It all began in Paris in the 1980s. Jean-Claude Jitrois conceived a material no one had dared attempt — a leather capable of stretching, adapting to every body like a knit, without giving up the character of the hide. From this invention came the first stretch leather pieces, skirts included. More than 40 years later, this signature shapes every one of our styles, combining the suppleness of knitwear with the nobility of leather. The house releases four new collections each year, each one built on this expertise.

Our Cuts and Lengths

A skirt collection is measured by the diversity of its lines. Ours covers the major cuts of the wardrobe, from the most fitted to the most fluid. The table below summarises our cuts, their silhouette, and the length that flatters them most.

Cut Line Ideal Length Register
Pencil skirt Fitted, high-waisted Midi Office, evening
Straight skirt Clean, classic Midi, mid-length Everyday
Trapeze, flared Movement Short, midi Daytime
Pleated, wrap Couture detail, slit Midi Evening

The Pencil Skirt and the Straight Skirt

The pencil skirt is our most fitted cut — high-waisted, it defines the waist and elongates the leg. The straight skirt favours clean lines, a classic that moves easily from the office to evening. Both refine the silhouette through line, in patent or matte stretch lambskin.

The Trapeze Skirt and the Flared Skirt

The trapeze and flared skirts are all about movement. Slightly open toward the hem, they draw the eye to the leg and suit most body shapes, ideal in short or midi length.

The Pleated Skirt and the Wrap Skirt

The pleated skirt and the wrap skirt carry the couture detail, sometimes finished with a discreet slit. Evening cuts that retain all the suppleness of stretch leather.

Our Shades — From Deep Black to Camel

Our colours carry the same exacting standard as our materials. Deep black remains the defining shade of the Jitrois skirt, joined by brown and camel for warmth, blue and green for nuance. Patent finishes catch the evening light; matte tones ease into the day. These are colours conceived to last in a wardrobe rather than to follow a season.

Our Signature Styles

CHANTAL — The Signature Skirt

CHANTAL is a pencil skirt in black stretch lambskin. Fitted line, high waist, subtle sheen — the cut that defines the waist and elongates the leg.

SOLO — The Essential Skirt

A cornerstone piece of the Jitrois house, the SOLO skirt embodies the essential. Cut from black stretch lambskin, it fits the body with precision, draws a clean line, and asserts itself without embellishment.

GABI — The Short Suede Skirt

GABI explores stretch-worked suede in a soft celadon. Short cut, matte and supple material — a daytime skirt that slides into evening without effort.

DAISY DUKE — The Leather Denim Short

DAISY DUKE transposes the spirit of denim into the Jitrois hide. Stretch leather denim, short and confident cut — a freer piece that keeps the character of the material.

Luxury Craftsmanship, Made in Paris

Every Jitrois skirt is born in Paris, in an atelier where the skills of the trade have been passed down for four decades. Pattern cutting, panel assembly, precise topstitching, hand-finished details — every step carries the eye of a craftsperson. It is this passage through the atelier that distinguishes a Jitrois piece from an industrial skirt, and that justifies its price. The house has manufactured 100% of its pieces in France since 1978 and fulfils close to 40% of its orders as bespoke, including online.

How to Wear the Women's Skirt

A Jitrois skirt suits every register. For the day, pair the pencil skirt with a fine knit or a white shirt, under one of our leather jackets. For the office, a straight skirt, a clean heel, and a discreet leather accessory. For the evening, let the patent or pleated skirt take the light and play the contrast of a fluid top. The rule is simple — balance a fitted cut with a covering top, and vice versa. To extend the vocabulary, explore our leather dresses, leather trousers, leather jeans, and jumpsuits, or browse the full women's collection.

The Jitrois Skirt for Every Occasion

From one occasion to the next, the Jitrois skirt finds its place. Day-to-day, a straight or trapeze skirt in a quiet colour sets the tone. At the office, a midi pencil skirt pairs with a clean heel and understated accessories. For an evening, a patent or pleated skirt makes a statement, extended by a fine heel. For every woman to find, among our styles, the cut and length that serve her silhouette and her own way of dressing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which skirt should I choose for my body shape?

The high-waisted pencil skirt refines through its fitted line; the trapeze and flared skirts balance through movement. On length, midi remains the most versatile, mid-length elongates, short adds energy. Start with the cut that feels most comfortable, then adjust the length to the occasion.

What skirt length works best for everyday wear?

Midi or mid-length elongates the leg without restricting movement and suits most silhouettes. A short cut plays up lightness; a high waist structures the figure.

Is stretch leather comfortable?

Yes — that is the whole point of the Jitrois invention. Stretch lambskin stretches and returns to its shape, just like a knit. It moves with the body, does not constrict the waist, and holds its drape all day, whether sitting or standing.

Can I order a bespoke skirt?

Yes. The house fulfils a significant share of its pieces as bespoke, including online. You can adjust the size, length, and certain finishes for a skirt calibrated exactly to your silhouette.
