A UNIQUE KNOW-HOW

A UNIQUE KNOW-HOW

40 YEARS OF LEATHER IN MOTION

The Jitrois house is recognized worldwide for its discoveries in the treatment of leather, which over 40 years of creation have enabled it to multiply its uses, comfort and appearance. Jitrois leather is unique because it uses the noblest and oldest garment material used throughout human history, while working tirelessly to bring improvements that, far beyond a single fashion effect, will liberate and transform its uses.

In a decade, Jean Claude Jitrois has gone from the black jacket to the haute couture dress of coloured leathers, embroidered, with bold volumes or graceful lines. Each decade brings new discoveries, such as stretch leather in the 90s, that Jean Claude develops with Dupont de Nemours. This technological revolution gives full meaning to the expression « second skin ». Jitrois stretch leather sublimates the shape, changing colour and light, protecting and freeing the body, in movement as in expression. Each creation becomes unique, adapting to the person who wears it. Customers love this singularity, which makes each piece unique, cult and timeless.

THE LEATHER COUTURIER

Jean-Claude Jitrois is the leather designer, but also the creator of many new leathers. Maison Jitrois, through the previous career of its artistic director as a psychomotor therapist, has a unique sensory and visual approach to the body, with the aim of enriching the possibilities of expression that its discoveries allow. His early work will have focused on gender transgression, with recreated male leather garments for women. Then from the beginning of the 80s, he turns to the development of brightly coloured leathers without limits of audacity or volume

In the 2000s, new discoveries allowed the Jitrois house to realize a dream, creating leather pants resembling jeans, with a perfect leather feel of the best quality. But above all, these leather pants are machine washable, and like jeans they acquire a patina over time and with use.

LEATHER JITROIS

Maison Jitrois is historically recognized worldwide for using the finest leathers, mainly from the French industry. It’s always worth remembering that the use of leather is in essence a recycling operation, coming from the recovery of unused parts from the food industry.&lt;/p></p>

French lambskin has a very long tradition of high quality, the industrial processes of which are often an example for our neighbours. The leathers selected by the house come from skins rigorously selected by expert craftsmen from the best tanneries. They are exclusively produced in France, from French and Spanish lambs, for its dipped leathers as well as for its dipped stretch leathers.

A QUEST FOR EXCELLENCE

The Maison selects “the grain of the leather”, which is the noblest part of the skin, the surface. This part is then combined with a cotton and elastane fabric to create the stretch effect. The leathers used are simply immersed in a dye bath to be then protected. Matte or shiny, the « cuir plongé » item thus reveals the fine and natural grain of the lambskin, with a softest and unique touch.

La Maison Jitrois is particularly demanding when it comes to respecting and exceeding all production, aging and tanning standards, and actively contributes to environmental and social responsibility duty, which has always been the prerogative of quality manufacturing: manufacture less, better and long-lasting products. Working with the desire to go beyond what laws and regulations require, with the following priorities: reducing or even eliminating environmental impacts, consolidating the circular and local economy, sharing and monitoring these principled commitments with our manufacturers, sub-contractors, artisans and lamb skin manufacturers.

THE JITROIS LEATHER OF THE FUTURE .

This research work is of course carried out while maintaining quality as a primary value, as it guarantees the longevity of the product.

Nowadays, there are revolutionary perspectives for the production of leather (as opposed to so-called “Vegan” plastic imitations), such as production from stem cells, which would eventually make it possible to literally grow leather of all types of leather from all sorts of animals, with a perfect quality and zero environmental impact. And whose new properties would be an infinite new creative field that the Maison Jitrois is impatiently awaiting…
